Lunchtime Lyceum at Main Library
Interested in learning something new? Stop in at Main Library on the third Tuesday of the month for talks on a variety of topics. Recent lectures focused on how to access/use Library databases devoted to schoolwork, telephone directories and finance as well as planning for college. Presentations begin at 12:10 pm, end by 12:50 pm and take place in a Meeting Room across from the Auditorium. Bring your lunch and join us! Upcoming topics:
February: Health Information Center
The Science and Technology Division now has a section with books, pamphlets etc. on health issues and concerns.
March: Nonprofit Update – Looking to change the world?
This overview will cover the basics of nonprofit organizations and their role in our community. History and Humanities librarians will provide information about our many valuable resources that help these organizations accomplish their missions.
April: American Factfinder and American Community Survey
Writing a business plan or seeking a grant? Looking for current information on the population of Akron or Summit County? The most recent estimates (2008) are now available from the Bureau of the Census.
